By Rail
Fast frequent rail services provided by East Coast operate along the East Coast Main line between London, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh with rail connections from Newcastle into the Tyne Valley.
Virgin Trains operate trains between London, Manchester, Carlisle and Glasgow with rail connections from Carlisle into the Tyne Valley. Virgin Trains also operate cross-country services providing links to Newcastle from Scotland, South West England, Birmingham, Sheffield and Leeds.
Trans-Pennine Express services provide frequent services to Newcastle from Liverpool, Manchester, West Yorkshire and York... or travel from Leeds along the internationally famous Settle-Carlisle line through the Yorkshire Dales National Park to Carlisle for connecting trains along the Tyne Valley line.

The Tyne Valley Line provides good access to Hadrian’s Wall and the southern end of the National Park. The Tyne Valley Train Trails pack enables you to walk the length of this beautiful valley in a series of day walks that link with railway stations between Wylam and Haltwhistle. DFDS Scandinavia Seaways operate ferries to Holland (Amsterdam) and Sweden (Göteborg). A special bus runs from Newcastle Central Railway station to link with ferries.

By Air
Newcastle International Airport offers direct flights to a growing number of UK and overseas destinations. Catch the Metro train to Central Newcastle (Haymarket). Catch buses from here to Morpeth, Alnwick, Rothbury and Wooler. Or walk round the corner and catch buses to Hexham and Carlisle from Eldon Square Bus Station. Alternatively, you can hire a car from the terminal building and take a 50-minute drive to Northumberland National Park and Hadrian's Wall.

By Bus
National Express Coaches call at Newcastle and Carlisle from all over the UK. Connecting local services from Newcastle and Carlisle are available to most parts of the National Park (operated by Arriva and Stagecoach). The Hadrian's Wall Bus (AD122) takes visitors to all the major sites along the Hadrian's Wall corridor (April - September) between Newcastle upon Tyne and Carlisle.
