Pele Cottage, Wingates VillageThe present village extends along either side of a single street laid out on a ridge which gradually drops away to the Maglin Burn towards the north and north-west and down to the Tod Burn to the east.
The village street is orientated from WSW to ENE and descends the shoulder of the ridge from the west to east offering views looking out over the varied landscape of the vale of the Coquet to the north, with the Cheviots visible in the far distance.
Beyond the western end of the village the ground continues to rise up to a height of 226m just beyond the western limit of the historic township.
