Elsdon Tower House : The Medieval Cross Slab
Grave stone at ElsdonThe slab measured 0.75 by 0.30 m, its base being broken away; it bears an incised design of a cross with its head made up of four broken circles or 'bracelets', set within a circle, with a pair of shears (the conventional emblem for a woman) on the l. of the cross shaft.
It is probably of 12th or 13th century date; there are a number of similar slabs in the parish church.
