National Park Forum

Northumberland National Park Forum 2011

The 2011 National Park Forum took place in Rothbury Jubilee Hall at 6pm on Wednesday, 9th November, the event took a hard look at where the Authority should be targeting their now reduced resources over the coming year.

The evening commenced with announcing the results of the first National Park Awards. The awards recognise people and organisations for their contribution towards helping deliver the aims of the National Park Management Plan.  The winners of the awards can be found here.

Forum attendees were invited to participate and give their views in themed workshops covering how to meet the challenges in five areas of the Authority’s work:

  • Neighbourhood Planning
  • Supporting Businesses and Communities
  • Securing the Value of Nature in Northumberland National Park
  • The Future of Tourism
  • Securing Rural Services in the National Park.

The evening was run by an independent facilitator, who compiled a report for the National Park Authority highlighting the key issues raised in the workshops, the messages which were common amongst each discussion group, and identifying how the National Park Authority can make a real difference in the future.
