Community Officers

Our Community Officers can assist local businesses and community groups within our Action Areas. Their support entails working up ideas through advice and guidance, while helping to secure appropriate funding where it is needed. They can help you to access grants from the Action Areas, the Sustainable Development Fund and the Northumberland Uplands New LEADER Approach. They also advise on external funding, typically including grants available from the National Lottery distributors. They have links with many local organisations and often help to put clients in touch with the best person to meet their needs. They can act as a first point of public contact for many of the specialist services available at the Authority, including our Archaeologist, Ecologist and Visitor Development staff. The Community Officers have developed some expertise of local renewable energy installations.

Farming Officers

Environmental Stewardship agreements are an important source of income to farmers within Northumberland National Park, helping them to look after the countryside and provide an important home for wildlife, whilst providing us all with food and many other products in common use. The Farming Officers can provide a comprehensive advisory service to all farmers and landowners with regards to these agreements. With farming being one of the main providers of employment within Northumberland National Park, and diversification schemes on farms increasingly contributing to the local economy, we are able to assist with accessing grants for such schemes.
